laraappleby
01:43:28
What are the major ways in which the SIs have changed over the years (especially in terms of the content and structure of the experience)?
Ruth MacNeille
01:43:29
As a graduate student, I’m interested in developing aspects of my research, is this an acceptable teaching tidbit?
Lisa Mcdonnell
01:44:36
We at UCSD spend a lot of time incorporating discussion about equity, diversity and inclusion, and teaching practices to promote an inclusive classroom
Ching-Yu Huang
01:45:20
How does SI evalute and assess the learning outcome of the participants after attending the program?
Ruth MacNeille
01:47:30
Teaching tidbit that would be running a work shop at my university
Ruth MacNeille
01:47:37
as well as developing teaching generally
Alexa Clemmons
01:47:47
Building on Lisa’s description of the UCSD site’s focus on inclusive teaching… How do the other sites compare? Are there other differences between sites that we should consider when choose which site to apply to (beyond just considering the closest geographically)?
dirksc
01:49:54
The curriculum at the different sites are comparable and incorportate the same learning objectives for participants. The structure and examples we use may be different. We have great communicaiton among the leaders.
Ruth MacNeille
01:50:16
i see, understood. thank you!
Alexa Clemmons
01:51:56
Great- thanks!
laraappleby
01:52:05
Does the curriculum include how to deal with political, administrative, logistic variables in a teaching situation?
Alexa Clemmons
01:52:28
Good question!
elleecook
01:52:50
I understand encouraging groups from the same department to attend. For graduate student participants—do you encourage that we apply with a faculty member, or is it suitable for us to attend on our own, either as a group of grad students or individually?
elleecook
01:54:08
(Oh, and hi--I’m Ellee, a PhD candidate at the University of Missouri)
laraappleby
01:56:41
Are undergraduates involved in the institutes (during the sessions and/or in the development of the curriculum)?
Ruth MacNeille
01:57:19
Unfortunantly, I have to leave for another meeting. I will look forward to listening in to the individual sites (hopefully also posted). Interested in San Diego based on timing. Appreciate all you time!
