Is the NIH prep specifically for BBS area distinctions? (Immunology, biochemistry, ect.) Therefore, does neuroscience automatically under the NIH program and not the ESI program?

If you wanted to do one year instead of two as an Economics Major will that option be available to you through the ESI-PREP Program or will I automatically be required to do the 2 years through the specific program that is in Econ?

I have a competitive GPA and GRE scores, as well as research experience (including a publication), but the school I attend is not well-known. Would I be a competitive applicant for the program?
Will participants conduct an original research project or solely working closely on their faculty member’s ongoing research project?
I am considering taking a gap year, are recent graduates still eligible to apply?
When seeking Yale mentors, to what extend should the professors share the same research profile? Ex: professors in sociology tackling different issues (education, immigration, etc)
With regard the Personal Statement, would you prefer it to be in an appropriately personal narrative format, explaining the reasons why one chose the field of study in addition to the necessary components?
I’m applying for research off-campus, in concentration to the above question... the research has to be fully from me and the faculty I’m working with? Will that consider be a spectacular research despite of co-authors?
Should I reach out to Yale faculty before applying?
